My friend Phil just happens to share the same birthday as the United States!
Which makes July 4th extra special, especially for me since I'm not American...even though I do enjoy the celebration.
But since we were at the beach and Mr. Phil decided not to join us, we decided to take him out for lunch the very next day.
Side note, second reason I love July 4th? The next day we got the day off! Which is very much necessary considering how exhausted we were. Meeting Phil and Kyle at 11:30 am felt 6 am.
Being the birthday boy, he chose the restaurant and we ended up at Susan Feniger's Street. Phil, being the food network lover that he is, had seen her on Top Chef masters and was dying to go to her restaurant.
The menu is based on "street" food from around the world.
Here's the front of their menu, along with some snacks we were brought. I'm not sure how to explain what it was but Phil described it as a "rice crispy with cumin." I tried some...not really a fan.
I had the tacos, which were very yummy.
Kyle had them too, and Phil and Eric both tried the burger, which was also fantastic.
Along with some fancy drinks, such as bacon infused bloody mary (ordered by Phil of course!), something with guava by Eric, which after tasting it he described as a guava margarita, and a Mango yogurt thing ordered by Mr. Kyle and me.
The menu was a little limited...only four salads and four lunch items as main courses, so we were bound to order some of the same things!
And here's the birthday boy.
Happy Birthday Phil!

This restaurant sounds AWESOME. I wanna go!I wanna go! What a cool concept.
the decor was really pretty too! and so popular! we had a reservation for noon (when they opened) and we got there and like, 10 seconds later, there was a line out the door waiting to get in.
if you come to visit me, I'll take you!!
